- What would be smart, IMO, was a function of both disk access and user
- input. My screen blanks after 5 minutes of no activity. If there is no
- disk activity for an additional 5 minutes, it is certain that the
- machine is idling, and the HDs can be powered off.
-
- If, on the other hand, I'm doing something on the machine, the HDs
- should stay running for 40 minutes even if they are not accessed,
- because as long as there is input from the keyboard/mouse, it is far
- more likely that I will soon do something that will require HD access
- as well, and it is annoying to have to wait for them to spin up again.
-
- Anyone care to take up this as a project? I for one will even register
- such a program for 5-10 dollars.
